We had a tremendous turnout and the feedback from the first Rushers has been absolutely awesome. Our first round of photos from the event are below, we’ll be posting more over the coming days ahead. The Inferno Midway at Hero Rush is where the action starts, finishes and keeps going. There’s the excitement of gearing up to start the Rush, the utter satisfaction of finishing and the all out fun of hanging out, sharing the experience with friends and family, getting some delicious food and drink and rocking out to some great music.

We’re psyched to announce that driving our first events in the Midway will be a veteran firefighter with a kick ass background in radio and music, our MC Craig Luecke.

Craig is a veteran firefighter and fire officer with over 33 years of experience in fire, hazmat, EMS and urban search & rescue. But like most firefighters, it’s the “side” gigs that really pump things up. Craig has produced award winning online media content including four popular internet radio stations (Rockland USA) and done commercial voice over work. Over the course of his media career, Craig has worked exclusively for many broadcast professionals including the D.C. area’s Sports Junkies, the nationally-syndicated Don and Mike Show, G. Gordon Liddy and other CBS radio personalities. Craig is also involved with the 2015 World Police & Fire Games coming to Fairfax, Va. in 2015.

Craig is creating an awesome “Soundtrack” for Hero Rush including several start line intro “dispatches” that are going to get you super pumped to respond on your wave when the alarm sounds.

]]> Hero Rush, the firefighter-themed obstacle race & experience, is seeking the equipment donations or low-cost purchase from fire/rescue departments for upcoming events.

We’re located in Maryland and can come pick up this equipment anywhere in the Mid-Atlantic region or pay for ground shipping from elsewhere in the coming weeks.

What We’re Looking For:

• Fire Hose: 1 ½” + 1 ¾” Non-Serviceable Hose – 1200 Feet AND 2 ½” + 3″ Non-Serviceable Hose – 1200 Feet
• Stretchers – Used military style fold-up stretchers or back-boards.
• CPR Dummies – Roughly 50 CPR dummies in usable, but do not need to be “mint” (i.e. training quality) condition.
• Folding Tank – A folding tank capable of holding a minimum of 1,000 gallons of water.
• Fire Trucks – Looking to borrow/lease a few firetrucks specific to each location or 1-2 that we can take ownership of, preferably ones that the owners would not mind participants climbing on, under and over.
• Firematic Stuff – The catch all category for items that are closely aligned to the fire service and that could help dress up the entire event. Looking for warning signs, firematic items, etc. You have an idea? Drop us a line.

If you have any of this equipment and can get it to us by April 14, please email the details to responders [at] herorush.com with a subject line of “Equipment Needs”. Please include a full description of the equipment, any photos if available and your full contact information including location, phone number(s) and email address. If the equipment is owned by a fire department presently, please include whether the Chief or appropriate authority has confirmed Hero Rush can acquire it, the name of the Department and contact information.

Hero Rush was created by lifelong firefighters who also founded Firehouse.com and FirefighterNation.com and created the Firefighter’s edition of MONOPOLY. All events support the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation as well as a local charity in each location we visit.

National Fallen Firefighters Foundation & Hero Rush Announce Partnership, More Charities Announced

Through this partnership, Hero Rush will promote and support the Foundation’s work, including resources to support the families and coworkers of fallen firefighters and programs designed to reduce the numbers of those killed and injured on the job. We’ve also announced that the D.C. Firefighters Burn Foundation is our official local charity for our Maryland/DC event and the Irving Fire Foundation for our North Texas location. Registrants can now donate to both of these charities when they sign up in addition to the proceeds from our Kid’s races that will go to those charities.
